A love of reading is developed early, and there is no better reading companion than one of Stoneybrook Foundation’s therapeutic horses. Horses are nonjudgemental listeners and by reading to the horses, it helps to develop children’s self-confidence, social skills, and pique their interest in the natural world.
Facilitated by a Horse Powered Reading specialist, Reading and Reins provides students with an out of the classroom experience filled with the sights and sounds of a working therapeutic horse facility. The aim is to help students build self-confidence by reading out loud to the horses.
